\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\nWe are now proud to present the extensive reports from the Research Excursion in the Swedish Nature 2024 Forskningsresan i Naturv\u00e5rdens utmarker<\/em>. For the first time, the Research Excursion was carried out in two different locations in the country at the same time, Moskosel in the municipality of Arvidsjaur and the areas around F\u00e5gelsj\u00f6 in the municipalities of Ljusdal and H\u00e4rjedalen.<\/strong>

The reports contain a detailed description of the areas’ natural values \u200b\u200band which species are at risk of being lost if the forests are logged.

The participants on both excursions inventoried many areas that turned out to be fantastically beautiful natural forests with a large number of red-listed species. Nearly six thousand finds of a total of about one hundred and fifty conservation species were found during the week. Despite the forests’ irreplaceable natural values, they currently lack protection. Several of the forests surveyed are also facing immediate threats of logging by the forestry companies Sveaskog and Stora Enso, as well as by the municipality of Ljusdal.

In addition to the Reports from the Research Excursion I naturv\u00e5rdens utmarker<\/em> 2024 documenting the natural values \u200b\u200bof the forests visited, the reports constitute an important and revealing examination of the actions of environmentally certified forestry companies and Sweden’s inadequate work with forest protection. Sveaskog and Stora Enso are both FSC-certified, a certification that is supposed to guarantee sustainable forestry, but which has repeatedly proven incapable of handling gross violations.
