Ciancio2006: Conversion of plantation to continuous cover forests in Italy

Ciancio and co-workers describe how beech forests in central Italy are converted from plantations to continuous cover forests to prevent erosion and loss of biodiversity that is commonly associated with clearfelling. Based on experiments thinning the forest they propose a strategy to harvest trees with reduced impact on other ecosystem services. Read the whole article in Forest Ecology and Management.
