After over twenty years of work to preserve biodiversity, protect forests and promote more sustainable forestry, we at Protect the Forest are pleased to now become a member of Giva Sverige. For us, membership is an important acknowledgment of our work with transparency and professionalism, and marks the beginning of a new phase in our long-term work for the forest.
We are an environmental organization that works to protect biodiversity and counteract the climate crisis by preserving forests and promoting more close-to-nature forestry. The goal is that at least 30 percent of the productive forest should be protected, that forestry takes place within planetary boundaries and that the forest is preserved for outdoor recreation, health, everyman’s rights and the rights of the Sámi.
Through our work, both nationally and internationally, we disseminate information, drive advocacy efforts and advocacy to highlight the importance of forests for the climate, species and people. We strive for long-term close-to-nature forestry and that the use of forest products is kept within planetary boundaries. At the same time, we protect the role of the forest for people, for outdoor recreation and health, and work to strengthen the right of public access and respect for the rights of the Sami.
With our membership in Giva Sverige, we want to develop our fundraising work and strengthen transparency towards our donors. It is important that people feel confident in how their support is used and in the work we are doing to protect forests. We look forward to becoming part of Giva Sverige’s network and taking part in experiences and knowledge from other organizations within civil society. Membership gives us the opportunity to continue to develop our work and contribute to a strong and credible non-profit fundraising work in Sweden.
