Swedish Forest Vision

Human impact on the climate, biodiversity loss and weakened ecosystems are now threatening the very foundations of our civilisations. The political decisions taken in the coming years will be crucial. Halting the destruction and fragmentation of forest ecosystems and restoring and protecting the world’s forests is fundamental – not least to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems during a period when the climate is becoming increasingly extreme.

At a time when reducing emissions and protecting every possible carbon sink and every form of carbon storage is crucial, Swedish forestry continues to move large amounts of carbon from forests into the atmosphere: current harvesting methods cause large emissions of greenhouse gases.
