What is it about?

The idea is that we as participants for a week take an inventory of interesting and threatened
forest environments with high conservation values. The knowledge collected helps to increase the
the chances of protecting the forests visited and providing the participants with new knowledge
on nature value assessment to protect forests at home. Everything happens during pleasant
forms where everyone learns from each other. The evenings are spent looking at all the species finds that have been made
during the day, compilation of collected data, reporting to Artportalen and
A single lecture for in-depth study. Expect to make friends for life!

Who can participate?

Anyone who can get out into the woods. You don’t need to be a biologist or know a lot of things
Species. However, it is good if you are passionate about curiosity and the desire to protect those at risk
forests. An adaptation is made to your experiences and ability to move forward in
Forest. Anyone who wants to take stock at a leisurely pace should be able to do so. Your eyes will
discover things that perhaps no one else has seen before – you are important! The interest in
Participation is usually huge, so we see that those of you who sign up participate all week.

Brief background information

The research trip in the Wilderness of Nature Conservation is an annual inventory of Sweden’s last
unprotected natural forests in northern Sweden. Sometimes the trip also goes to Dalarna and
Värmland. Around 45 people of different ages, skills and backgrounds usually participate.
Species knowledge is not a requirement, but we learn from each other. The important thing is that
The research trip is a gathering point for forest and nature enthusiasts who want to be
with and document endangered unprotected natural forests.

With the Research Trip, we want to save endangered forests, enjoy nature, find species and
influence and challenge forest companies, politicians and the public on the prevailing
the view of the forest and forestry. We want to increase knowledge about species and ecology.

Nature conservationist, forest activist and enthusiast Anders Delin started the Research Trip
1991 and with the exception of the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, the trip has been arranged
annually. The research trip in the Wilderness of Nature Conservation 2024 is a collaboration between
Protect the Forest and the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
