This weekend (March 22-23), the association Protect the Forest held its annual meeting on a sunny Långholmen – and it was the first time in the association’s 16-year history that the meeting was held in Stockholm. Around thirty active members from Protect the Forest gathered to discuss and plan for the association’s future. Baker Sébastien Boudet was in charge of dinner on Saturday evening, and also offered his fantastic semlos during the day.

Protect the Forest's work on starting local groups will take big steps this year, and after the annual meeting there are already two newly formed local groups: Norrbotten and Stockholm.
A lot of time was spent discussing the change that Protect the Forest has undergone in recent years – from a non-profit association to an organization with employees in specific projects. Protect the Forest decided to initiate a reinforcement with a position responsible for member care, administration and coordination. The same applies to appointing a new role as communicator to intensify our work in reaching out with our messages. The vision is to remain a science-based, cutting-edge organization, well-established in the grassroots movement throughout the country.
Some other projects that the annual meeting decided to implement and finance during the year are the Forest Festival in Åfallet, two Research Excursions and also inventories of lime-conifer forests on Gotland.

The annual meeting took the opportunity to congratulate the sister organization that was recently formed in Norway, and looks forward to good cooperation between us.
