The research trip

For over 30 years, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and Protect the Forest have been organising the “Research Trip in the Wilderness of Nature Conservation” every summer, a non-profit inventory week of unprotected forest that often takes place in northern Sweden. During the trip, endangered species and important natural forest areas are documented, which contributes to the work for long-term protection of Sweden’s forests.

The forests that are inventoried during the Research Trip have high conservation values and many are natural forests that Sweden has committed to provide long-term protection by 2030 at the latest. The research trip is also an opportunity for participants to learn how to inventory forests, recognize conservation species and share knowledge with other nature and forest enthusiasts.
