Two Research Trips in the Wilderness of Nature Conservation week 30, July 2025

Now we can share the fantastic news that TWO Research Trips will be arranged in different parts of the country during week 30 (21/7–26/7). The trips are planned to Västerbotten County and Norrbotten County. Exactly where we will stay and which forests will be visited is being planned, but the research trips will run Monday to Saturday, with a capacity for around 45 participants each.

Registration is open between 07.00 – 22.00 on Thursday 10 April, after which the places will be raffled off. You can only sign up for one of the trips.

Last year’s two Research Trips took place in the forests around Fågelsjö, Härjedalen and around Moskosel, Norrbotten. Here, a natural forest with very high conservation values is inventoried.

NB!
It is not possible to register in advance via email. Registration is done via the Google form that is published on Protect the Forest’s website on the set opening date.

Brief Background Information:

The research trip in the Wilderness of Nature Conservation is an annual inventory of Sweden’s last unprotected boreal natural forests. Around 40-50 people of different ages, skills and backgrounds usually participate. Species knowledge is not a requirement, but we learn from each other. The important thing is that the Research Trip is a gathering point for forest and nature enthusiasts who want to be involved in documenting endangered unprotected natural forests.

With the Research Trip, we want to save endangered forests, enjoy nature, find species and influence and challenge forest companies, politicians and the general public about the prevailing view of forests and forestry. We want to increase knowledge about species and ecology.

Nature conservationist, forest activist and enthusiast Anders Delin started the Research Trip in 1991. The memory of Anders, his fantastic commitment to the natural forest and his deep knowledge of its ecosystems lives on and shapes these and future Research Trips.

The research trip in the Wilderness of Nature Conservation 2025 is a collaboration between Protect the Forest and the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. More partners may be added.
