Donation terms
Acceptance of all contributions, gifts or grants is at the discretion of Protect the Forest. Protect the Forest will not accept any gift if it cannot be used or consumed in accordance with Protect the Forest’s purpose and mission.
No irrevocable gift, whether direct or annual, will be accepted if it would under any reasonable circumstances jeopardize the financial security of the donor.
Protect the Forest will refrain from providing advice on tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisors to assist them in the process of making their donation.
Protect the Forest will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts in the form of services in kind will be accepted at Protect the Forest’s discretion.
Certain other gifts, immovable property, movable property, gifts in kind, illiquid securities, and grants whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in any way, must be reviewed before being accepted due to the special obligations or responsibilities they may entail for Protect the Forest.
Protect the Forest will provide confirmations to donors who meet the tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, other than gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value will be attributed to any receipt or other form of acknowledgment of a gift received by Protect the Forest.
Protect the Forest will respect the donor’s intention regarding gifts for specific purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. When it comes to anonymous donations, Protect the Forest will limit information about the donor to only those employees who need to know it.
Protect the Forest will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders fees or other means, any third party for referring a gift or a donor to Protect the Forest.
