In this recorded webinar, conservation mycologists Helena Björnström and Petra from the Boreal Mushroom Forests project share their expertise on the inventory of calcareous coniferous forests. The lecture highlights the importance of voluntary involvement (“mushroom forest guardians”) in identifying and long-term protecting these valuable forest environments, with a special focus on the Uppland region.

- Field methodology and documentation: Practical guidelines for how fungal finds are photographed and documented correctly in the field to ensure high data quality and facilitate validation when reporting in Artportalen.
- Collection management and DNA sequencing: The methodology behind picking, labeling (collection number) and drying fungal samples correctly for future microscopy or DNA analysis.
- New reference literature: A presentation of the new field guide Limestone coniferous forest soil fungi and how its built-in map tool can be used to understand the distribution patterns of different species.
