The area notified for felling affects 45 hectares and consists mainly of slow-growing spruce forest surrounded by marshes. Finds of unusual red-listed species have been found in the forests.

The forest area notified for felling affects 42 hectares and consists of a mosaic of small ponds, marshes and forested hills. 2018The new FSC standard is revised and Protect the Forest gives its views on the second consultation. The consultation ran from June 29 to August 31, 2018. Forestry according to FSC is based on clear-cutting and allows the use of fertilizers, pesticides, alien tree species, soil preparation, which does not go together with environmentally sustainable forestry. Several of the FSC standard’s criteria and indicators are beneath all criticism.
2018-08-23Protect the Forest responds to the Swedish Forest Agency’s referral regarding the review of the regulations for the establishment of forests on productive forest land that has been carried out within the framework of a government assignment. The Swedish Forest Agency’s review includes Section 6 of the Forestry Act (SVL), rules for forest cultivation with non-native tree species, how to promote the establishment and possible management of forest edges, and an analysis of the conditions for varying the intensity of use. The rules in SVL §6 have a crucial impact on how the Swedish forests will be in the future, for the future functions of the majority of Sweden’s terrestrial ecosystems. By far the most important question regarding SVL §6 is whether the current transfer of forest to conifer monocultures should be allowed to continue, despite the extensive, mainly negative, consequences this entails?

The forest area is located just west of Mölnlycke at Hällsnäs in Härryda municipality within the forest property Bårhult 1:2. Within the area there is a recently submitted felling notification of 3.6 hectares (avv. note. A 38116-2018).
